Building Inclusive Workplaces That Thrive

We believe diversity, equity, and inclusion are more than values; they are essential for stronger organizations and healthier communities. One of the most powerful ways to achieve this is by truly integrating individuals with disabilities into the workforce, ensuring every person’s strengths are recognized and celebrated.

Through the Birkman Method assessment, we help individuals and teams understand one another on a foundational human level. Whether by increasing self-awareness or guiding teams to collaborate more effectively, this tool sets organizations up for long-term success. The result? Greater retention, stronger connections, and communities that thrive when everyone has the opportunity to contribute.

About The Birkman Method Assessment

Grounded in 70 years of research to help people better understand themselves and others.

In 1951, Dr. Roger W. Birkman created The Birkman Method to measure personality characteristics that influence behaviors, motivations, and perceptions.

The Birkman Method was created to help people see the world differently through the lens of personality.

Roger W. Birkman created the Test of Social Comprehension in 1951, inspired by his wartime experiences. He saw first-hand that individual differences in visual and interpersonal perceptions impacted pilot performance. That test, now known as The Birkman Method, helps determine not only how someone is likely to behave, but also why.

Today, The Birkman Method measures a range of personality traits to provide insights into how individuals may interact in a team setting. While its roots lie in understanding how pilots responded under similar circumstances, its purpose has grown. Birkman now empowers organizations to build stronger, more inclusive teams, support talent development, and improve collaboration, working effectively with all individuals, regardless of disability or diagnosis.

Design a blueprint for constructive communication

Trust is key to team harmony, and it’s often won or lost in one area, communication. When team members are unable to communicate effectively, they struggle to align expectations and achieve shared goals.

The Birkman Method helps teams understand each individual’s preferred communication style, regardless of disability or diagnosis. This inclusive approach opens the door to constructive dialogue and healthy conflict, ensuring that every voice is valued. The result? Stronger collaboration, improved problem-solving, and accelerated innovation.

Help leaders understand their team's workplace needs and stress triggers

It’s easy to see how employees show up in the workplace, but far more difficult to understand the hidden needs that drive behavior and influence productivity and job satisfaction.

Like any relationship, the employee–employer connection suffers when those needs go unmet. So how can leaders truly understand their people and reduce the barriers that cause stress or disengagement?

The Birkman Method uncovers the missing puzzle piece—helping leaders identify and respond to the unique needs of each individual. By focusing on strengths, motivations, and communication styles, Birkman empowers teams to understand one another more fully. This creates not only stronger collaboration but also a more inclusive workplace—one where differences, including disabilities or diagnoses, are recognized as assets, and every employee is given the opportunity to thrive.

Prepare teams to engage in healthy conflict

Conflict is a natural part of collaboration, but if it isn’t managed effectively, it can quickly become a barrier to innovation and progress.

When team members develop a greater awareness of the diverse perspectives and personality differences that shape communication, they gain the ability to engage in healthy conflict and disagreements where every voice is respected and heard.

The Birkman Method equips teams with this awareness, helping organizations move beyond surface-level interactions to create truly inclusive dialogue. By understanding one another more fully, across differences in background, abilities, and communication styles, teams transform conflict into a catalyst for trust, creativity, and stronger results.

Develop appreciation of diverse personalities

Develop appreciation of diverse personalities

A personality is like a fingerprint – no two are exactly the same. This means leaders will never manage two identical people, and team members are always adapting to personality traits different than their own.

These personality differences are often a source of division for teams. But what would happen if teams learned to harness and appreciate these differences for the unique impacts they make on collective goals? Birkman makes it possible.

Create a more collaborative workplace

Develop appreciation of diverse personalities

For most teams, effective collaboration can be the difference between success and failure. But true collaboration doesn’t just happen, it requires clarity, trust, and a culture where every individual feels valued.

The Birkman Method helps teams achieve this by uncovering the unique needs, strengths, and communication styles of each member. With this understanding, companies can create a shared purpose, reduce misunderstandings, and build psychological safety for everyone, regardless of background, abilities, or experiences.

The result? Less confusion, more connection, and a workplace where all voices contribute to collective success.

With The Birkman Method, leaders gain insight into which environments and behaviors motivate their people and which may create stress or disengagement. These insights go beyond roles and titles, helping leaders understand the unique drivers of each individual.

The result is a workplace where managers can intentionally create environments that bring out the best in everyone, supporting employees of all backgrounds, abilities, and working styles, and ensuring that every person has the opportunity to thrive.
